To whom it may concern,

The following is a letter of recommendation regarding the services of Francis Mont. Francis was contracted by Northern Telecom Ltd. in February, 1996 to assist in the coding, documentation and support of an internally developed automated notification system. The application is comprised of C and C++, modules residing on two redundant OS/2 servers and plays a critical role in the Nortel support organization processing 1000+ automated pager and voice mail events each day for UNIX, MPE and VM server applications.

Prior to Francis’ employ, the developer of the notification tool had unexpectedly left the company leaving a significant exposure as the tool is utilized on a 7x24, 365 day basis with no downtime tolerance.

Thanks to an excellent job by Francis, the code’s logic and functionality was fully documented (previously non-existent) thereby expediting a knowledge transfer to remaining Nortel employees. Francis was also instrumental in the troubleshooting and resolution of problems on a weekly basis which resulted in zero downtime and no customer impact.

The last two months Francis has been porting the application to the Microsoft NT 3.51 platform using MS Visual C++ 4.1, TCP/IP and Asynchronous Hayes Modem communication.

Francis is a consummate professional who can be relied upon to deliver superior results and during his tenure at Nortel often exhibited initiative that went beyond the stated objectives of his contract. My only regret is that Francis is not a full time Nortel employee.
