| November 25th, 1991 To whom it may concern As the technical analyst and leader of a Telephony Application development project at IBM Canada, I would like to comment briefly on Francis's performance and ability. This is not a formal letter of reference. I have known Francis for one year since he joined our project in the Telephony Application department at IBM Canada. He was referred to us by a colleague of mine boasting about Francis's technical expertise from previous projects. Ever since I got to know Francis, I have had a positive feeling about his professionalism, attitude and skills. He is very thorough in his work, extremely diligent and very precise. He has a wide variety of skills and has been instrumental in the success of our project. We had hired Francis to do development under the OS/2 Operating System, Presentation Manager and "C" Programming language. However, as it is common in every project, as a result of user requirements, the scope of the development was widened to include host connectivity, LAN and other telephone system connectivity development. In all cases Francis has demonstrated his excellent technical and organizational skills. As I mentioned previously, with Francis's contribution, our project has been extremely successful - it has been installed in Canada, United States and just recently in Europe. I am personally impressed with Francis's ability to take a vague requirement, come up with a sound design, implement with efficiency and test extremely thoroughly. This, combined with his interpersonal and organizational skills, makes a rare asset to any company. I am also impressed with the fact that Francis takes ownership of the problem in hand and comes up with the most creative and innovative solution to attack the problem and finds the resolution to implement it with extreme ingenuity. I am sure that Francis's participation in any project will make it an extremely successful one.
